Inquiring Artists

For portrait artists seeking representation.

We review new artists for representation once each year and welcome submissions during our annual review period in June.

A Portrait Review Board of staff, senior portrait advisors, and current artists meets once each year to consider submissions. To submit your work for review, please assemble the following:

  1. Up to ten examples of your most recent portraits (a shared drive-folder link, set to “anyone with the link can view”), with a list of the works, their medium and size, and reference photographs of the subjects where possible.
  2. A biography listing education, exhibitions, awards, and publications, including your website.
  3. Your current price list and a description of your working methods. Prices submitted should reflect a 60% (artist) / 40% (agency) arrangement.
  4. Three past commission clients as references, with names and contact details.
  5. The number of commissions you can complete annually, your turnaround time, and any other representation.
  6. A $30 application fee, payable via our secure payment portal, due with each portfolio in order to be reviewed.
