The Process

A seamless commission, start to finish.

From consultation to delivery, our team guides you through every step, so the creation of a fine portrait is a considered and enjoyable experience.

  1. 01

    Consultation & Design

A portrait advisor discusses your expectations and helps you plan the commission — the subject, the size, the framing, and the photographs to work from.

  2. 02

    Reference Photographs

You provide reference photographs of the subject. We advise on pose and selection, and can compose a portrait from several photographs where subjects were captured separately.

  3. 03

    Development of the Portrait

Your artist develops the portrait in oil upon archival canvas. Your advisor keeps you informed as the work progresses.

  4. 04

    Proof & Approval

You review the portrait in its final stages and request any adjustments. No portrait leaves the studio without your approval.

  5. 05

    Delivery

The finished portrait is prepared, protected, and delivered to you.

Typical duration: most commissions are completed within 2–4 weeks of the composition being agreed, depending on the artist and the scale of the work.
